Book a consultation and receive a complimentary X-ray to find out.
Dr Moody and his team pride themselves on using every trick to minimize discomfort. The “happy pill” can be used before you arrive and numbing spray or cream can be used on the skin if you are getting an IV. Local anesthetic is always used including the long lasting local that keeps you comfortable for 6-10 hours after when appropriate. Many patient use sedation and are asleep for the procedure which makes it very comfortable indeed!
Just because there is no pain does not mean there is not a problem. Gum disease, bone loss, infection, cavities, cysts and tumors can all happen without any pain. Some wisdom teeth do not need to be removed but many, many wisdom teeth do need to be removed. Make an appointment today to find out if you need your wisdom teeth removed. This will require less time to take care of things proactively instead of waiting until there is pain.
There is no exact age for wisdom tooth removal. Some people get their wisdom teeth removed at a young age, while others wait until later in life. The healing process is quick and smoother when younger and the risks are lower.
On the first day stick to soft and cool foods like ice cream, jello, yogurt, smoothies and anything in a blender. On the second day stick to soft warm foods like noodles, mashed potatoes, well cooked noodles etc. We recommend protein shakes especially Isagenix shakes.
What if I don’t remove my wisdom teeth?
- Impacted wisdom teeth forcing your other teeth out of alignment
- Infections in the gums caused by bacteria entering small openings in the gum tissue from a partially impacted tooth
- Wisdom teeth that have developed decay because they can’t be properly brushed and flossed
- Clenching and grinding caused by teeth that are not properly aligned
- Pain from wisdom teeth putting excessive pressure on the rest of the teeth in the jaw
- Cracks and fractures to the other teeth from the added stress
- Occasionally cysts and tumors occur around impacted wisdom teeth
